Thank you so much for stopping by. I am so glad it’s summer! You would think that as a stay at home, teach at home, work at home mom, I wouldn’t get so ecstatic about staying home all summer….but I am. I am a homebody. I will just own it. Yesterday, the kids and I went swimming at noon. This was after working on my planner (Bullet Planner for The Win) and after doing some chores and making a host of summer appointments – dentist, eye doctor, etc. for the three of us. After the pool, I snuck in a little time on the Xbox playing FallOut 76 Nuclear Winter. (I MADE IT TO 3RD PLACE in one round!) Just for an hour, then it was to the sewing room to repair some belt loops on jeans. I was going to do some other mending, but that took up the rest of my afternoon – three patches. While I sewed, I took part in another guilty pleasure – Netflix. Then I topped the evening off by spending a little time in the studio (read: GARAGE LOL). While Owen was working on a huge Civil War Chess set for entry in this year’s Kern County Fair, I was glazing a project that I started weeks ago. I carved on this large slab of clay (B-mix for those of you in the clay biz) and did it doodle-style, just willy-nilly all over the slab. (Note: in future, start with a smaller slab or it will be a huge project! This slab is probably 10×15″.)
I don’t have a picture, but after the carving, I sliced it all apart in varying sizes and shapes, mostly thinking of pendants or chimes, but I also made some smaller pieces for earrings etc. Then I fired it all to bisque. SO LAST NIGHT, I worked on glazing it and wiping some of the glaze back to highlight certain areas of the carving. It is either going to be AMAZING or I will never speak of it again. How do you think it will turn out?
